Its been an eventful week with storm Claudia flooding parts of Monmouth causing devastation to businesses and homes. Other parts of the uk were hit hard too but with Monmouth being close to home the coverage on social media was far greater and completely shocking. For a while it wasnt showing any signs of letting up but thankfully the rain eased off and it finally stopped. My thoughts and love go out to all those who have had their homes or businesses ruined so close to Christmas. Please go and search for the go fund pages and donate even a small amount which as a whole will help those who need it at this time.

Once the rain had passed

Sitting in my camera bag has been a new Sigma lens that I was desparate to try out. My thoughts were that with all that rain the mist and fog would appear and I had a few locations in mind where fog would compliment those parts of the woodland.

In part I was right, small pockets of The Forest Of Dean was immersed in mist and fog the woodland was calm and tranquill after the storm. My first location had light fog passing through the woodland. Its an area that for me has a higher vibration than other parts. I dont know what it is? I cant quite put my finger on it but you can feel the energy and it feels spiritual.

At first it was dark and still feeling quite heavy.
At first it was dark and still feeling quite heavy.

The Larch on the the opposite side of the valley was on fire, a perfect back drop to the old oak and beech that line this side of the valley.

After experiencing these wonderful moments it was time to head home for a cup of tea and to warm up by the log burner.

The afternoon was an unexpected foggy joyous walk in the woods near to home. The fog leaves a feeling alot like after the snow has fallen. Its dense quiet cold feeling that can make you feel hidden and protected within an area that would normally feel open and somewhat vunerable. It makes me feel as though I have the woodland all to myself. At this point I must add that I was out on a family walk but....me and daughter both strayed off together with our cameras into the cover of the fog.

There were a few poeple in the wood but with the fog sorrounding us we were hidden from the world. Sometimes in that heavy silience you can go deep into an active meditation.

With the light fading it was time to find the rest of the family and head home for food and drinks.
